I love birds and would never exploit them. Reputable pigeon racers are proud of their racers and their pedigrees.
As a child I often visited the pigeon coop on the roof next door and listened to the doves cooing as if they were contented to be cared for there. It left an impression on me that has lasted a lifetime.
Those pigeons were trained as homing pigeons and were never raced. But it was fun to watch my neighbor send them out with messages and wait and watch for them to return to the coop.
I will share some of this enthusiasm for pigeons, doves and the sport of racing pigeons here.
